Privacy Policy

This document lays down the privacy policy of the 2023 European Digital Competition Day conference, an event jointly organised by the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA Europe), Lexxion Verlagsgesellschaft, and the VUB’s Brussels Centre for Competition Policy and Brussels School of Governance.

How we process your data on this website

Data categories

The data categories we process are limited to your: first name, last name, email address, salutation, job title, company/organisation, dietary restrictions – i.e. unless you have provided us with additional information.

Data collection

We only collect personal data that you submit yourself through the registration form for this conference. By completing the registration form you explicitly agree to this privacy policy.

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, and reporting requirements, or the processing necessary for the pursuit of our legitimate business interests.

Processing purpose and legal basis

We consider this processing to be necessary to pursue our legitimate interest, as it is necessary for the execution of your request to attend the 2023 conference.

Our legitimate interest to process your data for this purpose does not override your interests or rights under the General Data Protection Regulation.

Data sharing

By using Eventbrite software to process registrations for this conference, we share your data with Eventbrite, Inc. This company processes your data on US-based servers, in accordance with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

We may share your data with third parties that help to host or organise this conference, only insofar as this is necessary for specific purposes, such as security and logistics. In those cases, we only share the data that is strictly necessary for a third party to complete their assigned task.

Where these companies act as data processors on our behalf, we require them to process your data in accordance with this privacy policy. We do not share your data with any third party in any other way.

Photography and video recording

By attending the European Digital Competition Day (“the conference”) on 5 December 2023 you agree that video recordings and photographs will be taken during the conference. 
 
Lexxion Verlagsgesellschaft mbH and the Computer & Communications Industry Association (“the Organisers”) reserve a right to use any photograph or video taken at the conference without the express permission of those included in the photographs / video. The Organisers may use the photographs and video footage for promotional purposes, both on the conference’s website and other websites hosted by the Organisers, and their social media platforms.

Your rights under EU law

  • You have the right to access your data that we process
  • You have the right to ask us to erase your data
  • You have the right to ask us to correct your data
  • Where you have given us your explicit consent to process your data, you can withdraw your consent at any time
  • You have the right to ask us to provide you with your data that we process in an electronic format so that you use the data or transmit it to another data controller
