Dr Eliana Garcés is an economist with deep public and private sector experience in antitrust and regulation in both the United States and Europe. Her career includes serving in the Chief Economist Team at the European Commission’s directorate general for competition and acting as the Deputy Chief Economist in the Directorate General for Internal Market and Industry. Her consulting work covers mergers and conduct cases across the telecommunications, media, industrial, retail, financial, and technology sectors. She previously served as the Director for Economic Policy at a major technology company and has advised large technology firms on regulatory matters. She is recognised as an expert in the economic analysis of new digital business models and regulation in innovative sectors. She co-authored a widely used book on quantitative techniques for competition analysis and holds a doctorate from the University of California.
