Heather West is a Senior Fellow with the Tech Policy Programme at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) and with the Center for Cybersecurity Policy and Law (CCPL). As a strategist guiding the intersection of emerging technologies and government policy, she focuses on data governance, security, artificial intelligence, and privacy. West holds degrees in both computer and cognitive science, and is a member of a high-level group of digital security experts for the Washington Post’s The Network. Currently, she advises clients on AI and privacy at the law firm Venable LLP. Previously, she served as the director of the privacy policy team at a major social technology company, leading policy development for accountable product experiences. Earlier in her career, she helped found the public policy team at a website security firm and worked on user rights at a public interest group.
