Laurens Vandercruysse is a postdoctoral researcher at imec-SMIT, VUB, focusing on the nexus of data governance and competition. His doctoral dissertation concentrated on the economic impact of the General Data Protection Regulation, and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) in particular, in the smart city context. Current research primarily deals with socio-economic implications of (personal) data sovereignty, and human-centric artificial intelligence.
