Lucia Bonova heads the European Commission’s unit responsible for the implementation of the Digital Markets Act and antitrust enforcement in the area of digital platforms. She holds a law degree from University Panthéon-Assas in Paris and an LLM in international business law from McGill University in Montreal. Throughout her professional career, she has been devoted to competition law enforcement, particularly merger control and antitrust. Previously, she served in the private office of the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Competition, Margrethe Vestager. In addition to her experience at the Commission, she spent three months at the United States Federal Trade Commission as an exchange official in 2009. Bonova has been featured among the most notable women competition professionals in global enforcement.
